To the future generation,

I want you to know that climate change is and will always pose a threat to us humans. Currently there are many people who back the claims that our planets temperature keeps rising and the earths systems — its ability to replenish and store the necessary nutrients needed for us to survive — are by our own doing threatened. Our oceans for one, have become polluted with so much waste, which as our populations increase will only continue to accumulate. I amongst many have decided to focus my life career-path in helping the cause, with environmental issues at the heart of it and you the future in the mind. My promise to you is that you will get to enjoy what natural beauty is currently here, that you won’t have to worry about going to bed hungry, that we including our Earth will all be treated equal and that the world will be in a much happier state.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise my next vehicle will be an EV.

Dear Daughter,

I want you to be prepared for the world that the generations before you are creating for you. I love you Lucienne, and I will not give up. I will push you and teach you not to give up, either, even if others around you do.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise composting in my house and getting an EV for my first car.

Dear Alanna and Valeria,

I promise you to keep trying, to keep educating, to keep pushing our elected officials to act and protect your health now and in the future.

Queridos filhos Heloísa e Henzo,

Tenho muito orgulho da minha função (agente de fiscalização ambiental do Acre) pois é através dela que posso dar um pouco do meu suor, para que no futuro ambos possam ter um lugar melhor para viver.

Dear Alba:

There is still a lot of beauty and I will do what I can to keep it from slipping away.

I won’t leave my lights on.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to become more educated on the global issues that face populations I can’t see

Dear future Michelle,

As consumers, it is our duty to protest and force companies to be greener and avoid environmental damage, whether they are from the food industry or from any other production industry. It’s about time we start thinking greener.

Dear Tomorrow,

And, if this summer has taught me anything, I am content (because I have to be) living in this limbo, this seemingly endless waiting for the opportunity to change, when really the opportunity exists within our very selves all along.

Dear Students,

I imagine at this point we have dropped our addiction to coal, gas, and oil and that our environment has made a turn for the better with the solar, wind, and other unimagined (at this point) alternative energy choices are in place.

Dear future loved ones,

As I sit here and write to you, I’d like to share with you something more horrifying than a few boos – our current home, Earth.
