I want to sculpt a world for you where you can play outside without gas masks, an ocean to swim in without toxins, and a thick lively forest for you to wander.

Dear My Future Child,

Something about me is that I try my absolute best to see the most in the mundane, the simple things have always inspired me to create. I think everyone should be inspired to create by something, whatever that creation may be, and I hope to have taught you that by the time you read this. Anything can be beautiful if you choose to see it that way. Nature for me has been, throughout my life, the most constant form of inspiration, creation, and therapy to me. That is why I am writing you and apologizing to you, love, because I am sorry to say that the simple beauty we take advantage of is deteriorating because of us. You deserve to see a beach with sparkling waters and immaculate shores, to breathe the freshest of air that each breathe leaves you with a sweetness. But I am sorry to say, dear, that with the way the world looks today, the people of this planet are ripping that opportunity out of your hands, as well as their own.

Our oceans, air, rainforests, animals, are all dying because we’ve become the cancer of the Earth. We treat our planet as if we have a million and more than we do. We are trashing our one and only home. I will tell you all about the animals you’ll never know and the beauty my generation has stolen from you.

My hope is that we turn around the way we live for you and your best friends and lovers to come for you to see this beauty with your own eyes. I want to sculpt a world for you where you can play outside without gas masks, an ocean to swim in without toxins, and a thick lively forest for you to wander. I hope we can create a more sustainable present to enrich your life with the simple yet extraordinary beauty of nature that I am privileged enough to see in my everyday life. I hope people can see past the wall blocking them from what they are doing and open their eyes to the positive capability they have inside of them to make a difference, for you.

I promise to spread the word about sustainable living and practice to lower my ecological footprint in any and every way I can. I promise to do this for myself, for you and your health, for the health of our Earth, and for future creatures and creators. My hope is for you to see the simple beauty of nature instead of spending a life fighting against it.
