So here we are. In 2022 millions of people are suffering from the climate catastrophes, killing pollution and pandemic, not mentioning about poverty, gender and social injustice, racism, wars and dictatorships that can go on as long as bad people in power are allowed to grab our natural resources.

Dear Grandchildren,

This message begins thousands of years ago in a moment when we, your ancestors, for the very first moment realized, that there is nothing more important than protecting you…

You – as well as any other descendant born since then – have been the most precious treasure we could get from the Mother Nature. Rising you up and taking care of you was never easy, but as long as we have worshiped and respect the fact that we are part of the Nature, the circle of life could go on.

In XX century we went astray. In short-sight, running for our comfort, greed and whims, we have chosen to fallow the tricky scammers and our selfishness that made us believe – the measure of our humanity is to do whatever we want with this Planet.

Well, that was not the first time when mankind was cheated by its own arrogance, but this time it made such huge impact on our Planet Earth, that the most stable and benevolent holocene era had turned into totally unstable and unpredictable anthropocene.

The never imaginable ecocides, mass murdering of the other species, slathering forests, polluting air, grounds and waters, raping the Earth from its resources and destabilizing the climate on a global scale. Yes, we did it – we did declare war to our only Planet, and our Home is on fire now…

So here we are. In 2022 millions of people are suffering from the climate catastrophes, killing pollution and pandemic, not mentioning about poverty, gender and social injustice, racism, wars and dictatorships that can go on as long as bad people in power are allowed to grab our natural resources. Science has never been so clear – the future generations – YOUR LIVES – depend on what we do or don’t do in this decade…

And though together with millions of other people we have been doing our best to put out this fire, at the moment individual actions are not enough… It’s on the powerful policy makers who have all means and ranges to end these wars, take care of the victims, and restore the Nature by transforming our systems into really sustainable. Will they be wise enough to do what they should…?

I take a deep breath and look at my sons with hope to see your future in their eyes…

I know, that I will continue doing my best to protect them till the end of my life. I wonder if they ever decide to become parents… If you read this letter, looks like they will…

But what is the life you are living in? Is this life or struggle for survive? Can you breath? Smell the blooming spring, and hear the singing of birds around you? Do you have home or shelter? Can you access the drinking water? Are you safe? Is there any tree around you and any person you can hold by your hand…

I am afraid of knowing and answer… but I promise you to keep on striking and struggling for the systemic changes towards green transition, circular economy, social justice and finally ending the impunity of the fossil fuels companies lead by cynics who are ready to burn our only Home and search for another one somewhere in space until it gives them profits.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow

I promise to educate others TODAY.

Dear Annalyse and Greyson,

See people can say they care about climate change, but caring is not action.

Dear friends,

Rather than exploit it, destroy it, poison it, why don’t we just enhance the beauty of it, guard it, and love it?

Querida Futuro Yo,

Quiero que puedas decirme que lo hemos logrado, y que el mundo hoy es un poquito mejor porque nosotras pusimos de nuestra parte.

To my Maria and her children,

I have to tell you something: it is so hard to keep our life “green” for now, but we still keep trying.

Future Self & Ka’iulani,

We promise to reduce the amount of carbon we use on a daily basis.

Dear Tomorrow,

The only way to survive it, even if you don’t feel like you’re winning, is to keep your hands on the rope.

Dear Tomorrow,

My climate promise is to use a refillable bottle, bring my own resusable spoon/form wherever I go, use clean personal care products (without chemicals).

Hey Kiddos!

My hope for you is that all our legislative efforts and care for the environment makes a difference so that we can wipe asthma out of our family.

Dear My Future Child,

I want to sculpt a world for you where you can play outside without gas masks, an ocean to swim in without toxins, and a thick lively forest for you to wander.

Dear my future loved ones,

I hope that humans can live harmoniously with the earth.

Dear Me of Tomorrow,

I plan to plant more things this spring, as we do every year in our garden.
