dear future me,

I hope you are able to experience the world as I have been able to. I hope you are able to breathe a breath of fresh air when you step outside. I hope you are able to look up into the sky and see the billions of stars. I hope you still know the smell after it rains and the way it feels to lie in a grassy field. I hope Australia’s beautiful beaches are still beautiful and you can still swim for hours without getting too sunburnt by the harshening sun. I promise to play my part now so that you may enjoy the future like you’re enjoying right now. I hope that the people in power were able to start doing what they’re promising right now, but most importantly, I hope you’re alright. love from, your 2020 self.

More Messages to the Future

I promise to stop eating junk food.

Dear next generation,

Please don’t wait to see the adverse effects instead adopt that river, stream, lake or ocean to make the world a better place.

To the People in my Future Life,

Anytime I’m at the crossroads of life, I pray that I, or anyone else in the same position, will keep you in mind, and try to shape a world that’s the best possible for you.

Dear Tomorrow,

I feel optimistic for you, tomorrow. I can feel a shift happening already.

For my children,

If we haven’t done enough and the world you’re living on is apocalyptic or if you’re living on another planet then I’m deeply sorry and just know that I believe in you and I know that you are both strong and smart enough to handle anything.

Dear loved ones in the future,

Even if it pains me to imagine how things are back home in Puerto Rico at the moment, I know things will flourish again. The land will heal, but we need to help it.

Dear future generations,

It’s never too late to make a difference. Our actions have very real consequences. We can educate ourselves, learn from our mistakes, and take action. We can hold companies like big oil and big plastic accountable for their negative impacts on the environment. We can educate ourselves and others about what causes climate change and what actions we as individuals can take to lower our carbon footprints.

Dear Child,

Hope we get to have that snowball fight I always dreamed we’d have.

BATMAN SAYS, “LISTEN!”

How can I help you save the world and our country?

Dear Birds,

will continue championing land preservation and the restoration of woodland, prairie and wetland habitats. I will not stop advocating for “bird friendly” legislation to make cities safer for your passage.

I want to tell you a story. Yes, another one.

Mankind has always been able to deal with the greatest challenges it’s faced and this will not be the exception. My message to you is: find that passion and give it your all. ‘Till your legs give out.

I promise to take shorter showers.
