Dear future generations,

My name is Lyne Sussuarana , I’m an Environmental Engineer and Chemist. My area of work is environmental conservation minimizing the environmental impacts of the industry in general. Nowadays, I am studying the recycling of plastic materials in my PhD at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.  I consider that studying solutions for waste generated from plastic packaging by recycling is extremely important for the conservation of natural resources, water, oceans, and climate change. So I feel very happy to contribute to scientific research in this area and try to improve the quality of the environment for future generations. It is not easy.  It’s  grueling and exhausting but is  fulfilling work.

I promise to continue to take care of our environment so that it can be better in the future, because I love mother nature and I understand the importance of preserving it.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Lincoln,

I wanted to let you know that in 2019 that there were real struggles with the health of our planet.

Dear Future

My hope is for all who live in your time to still know the joy of swimming in the ocean, walking through the woods, and hiking in the mountains.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will do whatever I can to protect and preserve mother Earth for future generations.

To My Future Nephews,

I want you to see those corn fields in the north, the beautiful beaches down in Florida, and the stars in the woods at night.

Dear Potential Future Kiddo,

To think that my choices of sustainable commuting, eating a plant based diet, and working on our City’s zero waste program likely pale in comparison to the impact of not having a baby is nothing short of devastating.  Does it make me a bad environmentalist to honor my maternal instincts?

Dear little one,

In the coming months, we plan to complete a full assessment of our environmental impact online. We hope to discover our biggest areas of resource consumption, learn what we can do better, and create an action plan to improve over the next year.

To My Children,

Is the world really polluted?

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise composting in my house and getting an EV for my first car.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to use my reusable water bottle more often

Dear Kai and Leah,

I want you to feel awestruck like I do. It is important to feel small sometimes, to feel the weight of reality, to recognize the scale of a challenge, to see where you fit and what you are up against. This is the case with climate change.

Dear Before The Flood team,

We can all be aware and sensitized to the problem, so that we are ready to embrace the solutions that will come our way. In doing so, we can all be part of the solution.
