Dear future generations,

When I try to imagine how the Earth looks like by the time you are reading this, only disasters, chaos and nature-less pictures come to my mind. As if now, we have experienced some consequences of climate change: environments have been deteriorated affecting the people that live on it. Regardless of these consequences, many people seem not to care or don’t see the evidence of climate change. On the other hand, there are some people trying to fight against this issue. When I come across these people they do amazing and huge changes but lamentably there are not many people like this yet. But don’t think that their change is in vain, because “in the open space of democracy every vote counts and every vote is counted”. This means that even if only a small change is made it is a huge step toward fighting against climate change. Based on this, I am hoping that the first lines of this letter made no sense to you and these people were able to make a change for the future which is now your present.

Sincerely,

Sandra

More Messages to the Future

Dear Future Self,

It was 2020, the year I realized that life is fragile—not just mine, but the entire planet—through immense consumption, pollution, greediness, ignorance, false bliss. This wasn’t the way I wanted to live my life, so I promise to actively make the change.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to sign up for 100% renewable energy.

To my precious children,

As you’ve grown older, I’ve become increasingly aware that protecting you means more than ensuring your short-term safety. It also means ensuring that you’ll have a safe planet to live on.

Dear Tomorrow

I promise to educate others TODAY.

Dear Gabriel,

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” – The Lorax

Dear Future Me: Only open after March 4th, 2050

I don’t regret my past ventures, nor do I believe I will regret my future ventures, but I’ve learned that I’ve needed to manifest these experiences into actions of sustainable development and conservation and protection of our environment.

Dear Devon and Chloe

I hope that my work helping to make your schools more sustainable will be something you carry on as you grow older.

To the Future Generations,

I look at my baby niece today. The newest member of our family, just 3 days old. What will be left for her and her grandchildren?

Dear Tomorrow,

The road I learned to ride my bike on, the field where I kicked my first soccer ball, and the park I ate my first ice cream cone at, could all be gone.

People of tomorrow,

Your path will only be as clear tomorrow as we have made it for you today.

To my brother’s children,

We wondered about how we might be able to eliminate plastics from our day to day routines, and recycled literally everything. We were amazing, you should have seen us. Now and again though, we wondered if these were the right questions.

My Dear Paloma,

I’m going to commit to raising you with your eyes open. Being aware as much as we can, how to better our environment together.
